This privacy policy describes how the AI Chat via Text service (“we,” “the service”) collects, uses, and protects information when you sign up on our website or send a text message to our number.

What data we collect

When you use the service, we receive and process:

• Your phone number
• Your ZIP code (used for weather and location-related questions)
• Your wireless carrier (used only to deliver replies through your carrier’s email-to-SMS gateway)
• The content of your messages (what you text us, and our replies)

We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personal information unless you include it in a message.

How we use this data

We use this information solely to:

1. Run AI chat — to receive your texts, generate a reply, and send that reply to you.
2. Operate the service — our systems (including third-party providers) process your phone number, carrier, ZIP, and message content so we can respond.

Your phone number and carrier are used only to deliver chat replies. Message content is used only to generate a response. We do not use this data for profiling, advertising, or any purpose other than providing the chat.

How messages are sent and received

• Inbound: We receive your texts at our dedicated number through Twilio. We do not send SMS from that number.
• Outbound: Replies are sent through your carrier’s email-to-SMS gateway via Resend. They may appear from a different sender than our phone number.

Third parties and marketing

• We do not sell, rent, or share your phone number or message content with third parties for marketing or advertising.
• We do not use your data for marketing. We do not send promotional messages or use your information to target you with ads.

To provide the service we use:

• Twilio — to receive inbound SMS only. Twilio processes your phone number and message content as necessary to deliver incoming messages to us. Twilio’s privacy policy applies to their handling of that data.
• Resend — to send replies through your carrier’s email-to-SMS gateway.
• Google (Gemini) — we send the text of your message (and recent chat context) to Google’s Gemini API to generate a reply. Weather and live questions may use Google Search grounding. We do not use this for advertising.

These providers are used only to operate the chat. We do not allow them to use your data for their own marketing.

Data retention and security

• We keep recent chat history in memory for a short period (about one hour) so replies can stay conversational. We do not store messages longer than needed to operate the service, unless we are required to keep limited logs for security or legal reasons.
• We take reasonable steps to protect the data we process (including use of secure connections and access controls where applicable).

Your choices

Text STOP to our number to unsubscribe. You can also stop using the service by not texting the number. We do not maintain a separate marketing list.

Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will reflect the latest version. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
